Methodology Notes

Preseason Grade Calculation

This is Yahoo's documented approach, rebuilt on our own data. A draft is graded by the projected season points of the roster it produced — the best legal starting lineup for the league's actual slots, plus a light bench credit — compared against every other team that year and mapped to letters on the curve Yahoo actually used here (B and C common, A rare, A+ never once handed out in nine years of real Yahoo grades).

It deliberately does not reward "steals" against ADP. We tested the old ADP-value formula against the 112 real Yahoo grades this league received from 2013-2021, and it anti-correlates with what Yahoo handed out — Yahoo graded the roster you walked away with, not how far players fell to you. So do we, now.

Projection Sources

  • 2022-2026: Real preseason player projections (Sleeper), including K, DEF and IDP
  • 2006-2021: No projections survive, so projected points are approximated from positional ADP with per-position value curves — and for 2013-2021 the genuine Yahoo letters are shown in their own column regardless

  • A: Runner-up or top 15%
  • B+: Top 25%
  • B: Top 40%
  • C+: Top 55%
  • C: Top 70%
  • D: Bottom 30%
